The Management Theory of Shibusawa Eiichi

The aim of this work is to analyze the management style of Japanese businessman and philanthropist Shibusawa Eiichi, who laid the foundations of Japanese capitalism. This interpretation is based on extensive research of original sources and other secondary literature. The work includes not only analysis of Shibusawa's management style, but also puts Shibusawa's thoughts into a broader historical context. The work also includes a comparison of Shibusawa's thoughts, influenced by Confucian ethics, with modern Western management theories. Source base for this work is going to be Shibusawa Eiichi's works, in which we can find timelessness and applicability to current conditions of management. The impact of scientific management on management theory and practice in interwar Czechoslovakia

This bachelor thesis deals with management theory and practice in interwar Czechoslovakia and its connection to American Scientific Management. The aim is to provide a comprehensive view of the various aspects and critically point out successes and failures based on the study of historical documents. The topic is put into historical context and introduces the initial economic situation. Both representatives of theory (Stanislav Špaček, Václav Verunáč) and practice (Franz Hummelberger, Karel Loevenstein, Tomáš Baťa) in the field are presented. The work describes the formation and the purpose of the Masaryk Academy of Work and the organization of the First International Congress of Scientific Management in Prague.
